Oct 5 will be a huge day for Call of Duty fans.
The Call of Duty Next event returns on October 5, 2023, set to reveal plenty of exciting details about the future of Activision’s Call of Duty franchise. The next big Call of Duty game is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, currently scheduled to launch on November 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is a direct sequel to 2022’s Modern Warfare 2. Activision has teased what fans can expect from the new game, offering a glimpse at the campaign and confirming that it will feature an open world Zombies mode. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will also feature the franchise’s signature multiplayer offering, but with many quality of life changes seemingly inspired by fan feedback.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer will consist of 16 maps at launch, all of which originated in the original 2009 Modern Warfare 2 game. Fans have yet to get a good look at Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer offerings, but that will change on October 5 at the Call of Duty Next event. It was confirmed during Gamescom Opening Night Live that the big Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer reveal will happen on October 5, with the beta kicking off on October 6 for those with early access on PlayStation consoles.
Call of Duty fans have more reasons to tune into Call of Duty Next on October 5 besides getting a look at Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer. It was also revealed that event will also feature the Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale, revealing future plans for the BR. Call of Duty’s mobile experiences, potentially even the long-awaited Warzone Mobile, will also make an appearance at the Call of Duty Next event in October.

While Call of Duty fans will have to wait until October 5 for the full multiplayer reveal, they can check out the fresh footage of the campaign that was revealed at Gamescom. The Modern Warfare 3 Gamescom video showed off the first mission of the game, which sees a group called Alpha Team conducting an operation in Verdansk. Verdansk has been teased for Modern Warfare 3 in the past, and it seems that it will play a big part in the campaign.
Some fans hope to see Verdansk return to the Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale, though nothing to that effect has been announced at the time of this writing. Call of Duty fans can at least look forward to returning to Verdansk in the Modern Warfare 3 campaign and can plan on learning about the game’s multiplayer modes on October 5.
